Clifton council advances $5,000 for Haunted Trail, restricts Main Street parking for Halloween

The Clifton Town Council on Oct. 2 approved a $5,000 advance to support the town’s Haunted Trail event and voted to restrict parallel parking on Main Street on Halloween to make trick-or-treating safer.
John Powell, who presented the Haunted Trail committee update, said the event is scheduled for Oct. 7 with a rain date of Oct. 28. He told the council that adult ticket prices were raised to $20 and that children’s tickets would be in the neighborhood of $10–$15, with the exact child price to be finalized by the committee. Powell said the committee has been soliciting sponsors and concession operators; the council approved the $5,000 advance unanimously.
Separately, Dwayne Nitz, presenting for the Traffic and Safety Committee, moved to restrict parallel parking on Main Street between Chapel Road and Chestnut Street from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 31. Wayne Nickum seconded and the council voted unanimously to implement the temporary restriction and advise residents to use Town Hall and the gravel lot for Halloween parking.
The council also approved routine business during the meeting: correction and approval of the Sept. 2012 minutes, the Treasurer’s Report for the period ending Sept. 30, and an expense of up to $1,200 to purchase and sell Art Guild calendars.
