The Clifton Town Council on May 7 approved the Treasurer’s report and set a timetable for adoption of its fiscal year 2014 budget.
Treasurer Marilyn Barton told the council the town had a cash balance of $639,371 as of April 30 and a consolidated year-to-date net income of $63,101 (operating funds YTD net income $88,878; capital YTD net loss $(25,778)). Barton also said the town would reverse a $1,664 check that had been held for clarification by the Dinner Theatre Committee. Councilmembers unanimously approved the Treasurer’s report after a motion by Wayne Nickum and a second from Chuck Rusnak.
Barton said the draft FY14 budget—compiled from inputs from town committees, commissions and boards—had been circulated to council members. The council approved a schedule for two public work sessions to review the draft on May 14, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. and May 21, 2013 at 8:00 p.m., authorized advertising for a public hearing on June 4, 2013 (to be held at Town Hall), and set a special meeting for June 12, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. for final consideration and vote on the FY14 budget. The motion to adopt the review schedule carried unanimously on a motion by Nickum and a second from Deborah Dillard.
The schedule gives the council a defined timeline to review committee inputs and capital planning recommendations ahead of the June consideration and vote. The council did not take final action on the budget at the May 7 meeting; the FY14 adoption is scheduled for the June meeting sequence described above.
