Superintendent Campbell highlights student awards, summer programs and orientation dates

Superintendent Dr. Campbell opened the district update by congratulating students and staff for recent achievements and community service. She highlighted recent graduate Paige Schickel, who “was recently featured in the Morning Calls Class of 2026 spotlight series,” and recognized Ayers Middle School teacher Mrs. Hackman for receiving the Milliken Leadership Award from Communities and Schools of Eastern Pennsylvania.
Dr. Campbell said students from the Lower Macungie Middle School travel club returned from an educational trip to San Diego, where they visited the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, SeaWorld and Torrey Pines and participated in a beach cleanup, representing the district well. She thanked community partners, including Life Church in Macungie, for volunteer support on recent outdoor cleanups at Shoemaker and Macungie elementary schools.
The superintendent reminded middle and high school families that summer reading lists are posted on school websites and encouraged students to review them. She also noted the district’s summer program, run in partnership with the Emmaus Rotary, which provides food pickup at Emmaus High School and Lower Macungie Middle School; details are available on the district website.
Campbell closed with logistical reminders for the start of the school year: Emmaus High School freshman orientation and Lower Macungie Middle School 6th-grade orientation are scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, and Ayers Middle School 6th-grade orientation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 11. She urged families to check school websites for additional dates and times.
