Pardeeville Senior Center approves maintenance work, booking changes and picture-hanging policy

At its Feb. 25 meeting the Pardeeville Senior Center Commission approved several maintenance and administrative items and discussed operational changes intended to tighten booking and payment processes.

Chair Kocher presented a proposal from Fahrner Asphalt Sealers and the commission approved an additional $125 to route cracks on the walking path; Kocher will ask the Village to approve payment. Commissioners also moved that the Village repair or replace the concrete slab at the East Wing entrance. Kocher moved to send the annual sprinkler inspection expense to the Village for payment; that motion was approved as well.

Kristi Fehrman, who has been handling bookings while training for a maternity absence, reported multiple bookings across the year and announced an Early Booking special for graduation parties booked before April 30. Fehrman and staff will visit four local senior centers to learn about grant opportunities. Commissioners discussed closing a process gap for returned signed contracts and the difficulty of cashing checks older than four to six months; Commissioner Babcock said the commission should work with the Finance Director to clarify timing and deposit procedures.

The commission also voted that artwork hung in the Senior Center should be related to the history of Pardeeville, allowing non-local artwork to be displayed temporarily. The meeting minutes recorded the Senior Center account balance at $18,955.65 at the end of February.

No contracts were awarded and no construction timelines were set; staff will follow up with Village personnel on payment and deposit procedures.
