Pardeeville commission advances East Wing remodel, forwards proposals for design review

The Pardeeville Senior Center Commission voted Feb. 25 to proceed with obtaining architectural and engineering proposals for a planned East Wing renovation and approved several contractor proposals already authorized by the Village.

Commissioner Michael Babcock reported he forwarded updated proposals to the Village Board to avoid delays. He told the commission the Village already approved paint, flooring, electrical and plumbing proposals and that a commercial glass door will be installed to separate the East Wing hallway from the rest of the building.

On a separate motion, the commission approved moving forward with proposals for the East Wing layout for the State plan review. The plan designates Rooms 1 and 10 as public restrooms; Rooms 2 and 5 as bride- and groom-suites; Rooms 3 and 4 combined into a conference room with bathrooms and closets removed; Room 6 designated as storage with bathroom removed; and Rooms 7, 8 and 9 combined into a single room with a sink/counter added. Commissioner Babcock made the motion, Commissioner Pufahl seconded it, and the motion carried unanimously.

Commissioners also authorized a motion directing the Village to repair or replace the concrete slab at the East Wing entrance and approved an additional $125 for routing cracks on the walking path; Chair Kocher will seek Village approval for payment of the crack-routing invoice.

The commission did not set construction timelines or identify contract awardees at the meeting; it directed staff to obtain proposals for architectural and engineering review and to coordinate further approvals with the Village Board.
