Police chief reports 673 calls, 41 citations and two arrests in October

Stephens City Police Chief Charles E. Bockey Jr. told the Town Council on Oct. 2 that the department handled 673 calls for service in October.
Chief Bockey said the department assisted the Frederick County Sheriff's Office on 50 calls, the Middletown Police Department on 7 calls and the Virginia State Police on 3 calls. Officers issued 41 citations for the month: 23 for speeding, 14 for failing to obey signs, and one each for no operator's license, no decal, expired tags and driving while suspended. The department spent about 21 hours in court, filed 10 incident reports and made two arrests; incident reports included overdose, shoplifting, vandalism, assault and traffic accident calls.
Chief Bockey also reported the Sherando Homecoming Parade was successful and ran smoothly with assistance from the Frederick County Sheriff's Department.
