The Newtown Heritage Festival committee reported preliminary finances and planning actions in materials delivered to Council.
Treasurer materials showed total income of $16,796 and expenses of $16,550.64, leaving a small surplus of about $245. Committee notes from a June 21 meeting reviewed vendor and entertainment updates, volunteer needs for tasks such as publicity, scavenger hunts and the pie-eating contest, and recommended promoting craft vendors and recruiting volunteers. The committee also reviewed fireworks budgeting and noted the need for better communication with veterans' groups and town staff for future planning.
The committee scheduled its next meeting for Aug. 16 and planned a fall wrap-up; Council received the report as part of committee minutes and treasurer's materials.
