Police report: 710 calls in July; Fire & Rescue reports 18 town incidents

Chief Charles E. Bockey Jr. reported the Stephens City Police Department responded to 710 calls for service in July, wrote 45 citations (27 for speeding, 17 for failing to obey signs and one license violation), filed 20 incident reports and made seven arrests. Officers spent roughly 21 hours in court during the month. Chief Bockey also noted local public-safety events: the department will participate in National Night Out on Aug. 7 (6–9 p.m.) in coordination with Middletown and Lord Fairfax police and will take part in Rescue Task Force training for active-shooter incidents.
Stephens City Fire & Rescue reported 18 town incidents for July, including 1 fire incident and 15 emergency medical incidents, and a combined 243 responses for station 11 for the month. The department said members were pursuing additional training and would begin a fall fund drive to raise funds for apparatus and equipment.
Chief Bockey and the fire chief's report were recorded in the packet materials provided to Council; Council did not take further action on the operational reports at the meeting.
