Stephens City police and fire reports: March calls and citations

Stephens City, Va. — Stephens City public safety officials reported call and personnel activity for March during the March 6 council meeting and in submitted department reports.

Police Chief Charles E. Bockey Jr. reported that the Stephens City Police Department responded to 623 calls for service during March. The department assisted Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, Middletown Police and the Virginia State Police on several calls, wrote 50 citations for the month and issued two written warnings for speeding. The department recorded approximately 13 hours of court time, produced four incident reports and had one arrest. Chief Bockey also reported that Officer Copp’s investigative work led to arrests and convictions, and that Sgt. Baber remains out with a broken foot and is in a non‑weight‑bearing walking boot.

Fire Chief John W. Jones I reported that the Stephens City Fire and Rescue Company handled 12 emergency incidents in town in March (including 10 emergency medical incidents and 1 motor vehicle crash) and noted broader county totals in the monthly report. Chief Jones said the department is now occupying its new station and that permitting is complete; an open house and building dedication are planned for April. He also said several volunteer officers attended training and the department has worked with the police department on fingerprinting and record updates to remain compliant with state regulations.

Council received the reports as informational items; no formal council action was recorded on the public safety reports at the meeting.
