Smyrna continues roadway restriping; paving moves to Sam Ridley Parkway intersection

A staff member for the Town of Smyrna said the town is continuing its roadway restriping program to improve safety for motorists and pedestrians and that crews have shifted paving work at the Sam Ridley Parkway and Old Nashville Highway intersection.

“The town continues its roadway restriping program to improve safety for motorists and pedestrians in accordance with the manual on uniform traffic control devices or MUTCD,” the staff member said. The speaker said crews are installing and refreshing pavement markings such as stop bars, centerline striping, and crosswalks where applicable.

The presenter said the town's contractor has completed restriping on several roadways, though the specific streets were not listed during the announcement. At the Sam Ridley Parkway and Old Nashville Highway intersection, paving was completed on the Walgreens side last week, and work is now shifting to the racetrack side where crews will begin excavation and paving operations.

A temporary turn lane remains in place for northbound Old Nashville Highway traffic turning west onto Sam Ridley Parkway while final paving is completed. “Motorists are encouraged to use caution, watch for changing traffic patterns, and allow extra travel time when traveling through the work zone,” the staff member said.
