Pleasant Prairie honors longtime public servants Wayne and Patricia Kessel

The Village Board of Pleasant Prairie opened its Aug. 12 meeting with a formal tribute to longtime community leaders Wayne E. Kessel and Patricia A. Kessel.
Rob (village staff) recounted Wayne Kessel’s public service: appointed to the Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission in 1969, serving as Plan Commission chair from May 1987 to April 1999 and continuing as a commission member for more than five decades; serving on the Kenosha County Board of Supervisors from 1970 to 2000, including as chair from 1978 to 1980; leadership roles with the Wisconsin Counties Association and the Kenosha Area Business Alliance; and a long career with Webco beginning in 1948. Staff noted the village in January 2023 named a roadway at the LogistiCenter development “Kessel Court” in his honor. Rob also described Patricia A. Kessel’s 21 years as village treasurer and other community roles.
Board members shared brief memories and appreciation for the Kessels’ decades of service to Pleasant Prairie and Kenosha County. President John Steinberg said he was personally greeted by Wayne and Pat when he arrived in the town 40 years ago and that Wayne “had a lot of insight into what the future would be and how best to achieve our goals.” Trustees described the Kessels as devoted volunteers who shaped the community’s growth.
