The Pleasant Prairie Village Board approved several items on Aug. 12, voting by voice on routine and operational matters.
Zoning text amendment (Ordinance 24‑24): The board approved a PUD text amendment to rename the Nexus Pharmaceuticals Planned Unit Development to a non‑proprietary title (staff recommended Prairie Highlands Pharmaceuticals PUD) after Eli Lilly and Company purchased the site at 10300/10301 128th Avenue; staff said operations will continue with about 133 full‑time employees across three shifts. Trustee moved the ordinance; a second followed and the motion carried on voice vote.
Lot line adjustment (10225 and 1235 Wilmot Road): The board approved a lot line adjustment to resolve a fence encroachment and ensure the fence would be located on the corrected parcel. Staff said the adjustment conforms to R‑4 zoning and the land division ordinance; motion carried on voice vote.
Weight‑limit change on Bain Station Road (H to 31): After staff presented options (maintain, temporarily lift, or permanently lift weight restrictions), the board voted to lift the weight restrictions on Bain Station Road east of County H to State Highway 31, designating it for heavy truck use; one trustee recused from the item because it involves a family member. Trustees discussed enforcement challenges, roadway life‑cycle impacts and potential inclusion of needed reconstruction in the TID 10/11 project plan. Motion carried.
School Resource Officer agreement (SRO): The board approved a renewal agreement with Kenosha Unified School District to provide a village SRO to serve Lakeview Tech Academy and three elementary schools in Pleasant Prairie through Dec. 31, 2024 as a stopgap while Lakeview Tech’s move is completed; staff said after Jan. 1, 2025 the SRO assignment will cease and the officer will return to patrol. Motion carried.
Votes: All four items were approved by voice vote; no roll‑call tallies were recorded in the transcript. Several trustees participated in discussion prior to votes; the record shows motions and seconding trustees but not individual aye/no tallies.
Ending: The board moved on to further discussion items and adjourned at the end of the agenda.
Provenance: Ordinance discussion began at SEG 241; lot line adjustment at SEG 306; Bain Station weight limit from SEG 343 to SEG 556; SRO agreement from SEG 558 to SEG 700.
