At its May 13 meeting, the Village of Plain Board of Trustees approved a Temporary Class B retailer's license for malt beverages for the Plain Fire & EMS Celebration, granted extended hours for the event, approved multiple seasonal hires and authorized purchase of a new mower.
Kelly Yanke moved to approve the April 8 meeting minutes and later moved the permits and personnel approvals. Yanke’s motions to authorize the Temporary Class B license for July 24–26 and extended hours for Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25, were seconded by Steve Whitford and carried. The board approved hiring golf course employees Bill Carpenter and Greg Kraemer; lifeguards Kailin Alexander, Aubrey Anliker, Brynlee Christian, Morgan Ellefson, Francis Ellis and Lucy Klemp; and appointed Makenzie Woodhouse as Recreation Director. The minutes record that Ray Ring abstained on the minutes‑approval vote.
Public Works Director John Ruhland told the board that the existing Ferris zero‑turn mower is not heavy‑duty enough for park and course needs and recommended a Kubota diesel zero‑turn mower with a PTO drive. Steve Whitford moved to purchase the Kubota for $17,900 via loan; Cindy Haag seconded and the motion carried.
The actions were recorded as motions and carried; no individual roll‑call tallies were published in the minutes. The board adjourned at 7:37 p.m.
