The Enumclaw City Council on June 22 approved Resolution 1,881 to formalize how previously authorized funds would be spent to support July 4 parade security.
Parks Director Lina Hicks said the resolution would authorize the allocation of $15,000 previously authorized by council: $8,500 to pay for parade-route barriers, $2,500 to cover overtime for six additional city staff to help manage the route, and $4,000 to the Chamber of Commerce to hire security and event staff. "The funds have already been authorized by council. This would just kind of break up how we're going to spend it," Hicks said.
A motion to approve the resolution was made, seconded and approved by voice vote; the mayor announced the resolution passes. The action was procedural and implemented the spending plan that staff recommended for parade operations and public‑safety staffing.
