Port Wing fire responders urge study of regional fire district to improve funding

The representative said the department would like the board to research creation of a fire district that could include Port Wing, Orienta, Herbster and Cornucopia to improve prospects for funding and grant preference.
Board members did not take formal action on forming a district at the meeting; the suggestion was recorded as a topic for further research. No dollar amounts or timelines for valve replacement were provided in the minutes.
