Orange Historical Commission reorganizes as Orange Historical Society; Select Board approves memorandum of agreement

At the Dec. 17 Select Board meeting, Judith Lindahl reported the Historical Commission has reorganized as the Orange Historical Society, an unincorporated historical association. The Management Committee named Sharon Proulx as chair, Gulley Dunlap as treasurer and Tamara Fairbank as secretary; the group has filed paperwork with the State of New Hampshire.
The Select Board voted to approve a Memorandum of Agreement between the Town of Orange and the Orange Historical Society. Aaron Allen moved to approve the MOA and Betsy Coble seconded; the motion passed 3–0–0. The MOA is available for residents to review by requesting a copy from Board Secretary Catherine Souza.
Other business included a year-end budget snapshot presented by the secretary and agreement to sign final vouchers on Dec. 27, 2024. The board tasked staff to investigate cost-of-living increases for town employees and officials for possible inclusion in the 2025 warrant.
The secretary reported Cohos Advisors agreed to reimburse the town for bookkeeping errors uncovered in last year's audit and subsequently withdrew their proposal to perform 2025 audit services. Committee reports noted Poland Landscaping removed identified trees from the Church cemetery with additional tree work planned for 2025. David Stacy read a letter from Kathy Stacy requesting second-floor storage space at the Town House for Parks & Recreation materials; the board asked the group to specify the amount of space required.
The board reviewed and signed bills and vouchers, confirmed the next Select Board meeting for Jan. 7, 2025 at 6 p.m., and adjourned at 6:51 p.m.
