The Orange Select Board on Dec. 17, 2024 filled multiple vacancies and swore in new town officers.
Lucy LaChance was sworn in as a Select Board member to serve the remainder of an unexpired term through March 2027; the swearing-in was performed by Select Board member Betsy Coble and LaChance was eligible to participate in votes for the balance of the meeting. The board had approved the Dec. 3 minutes earlier in the meeting (motion by Betsy Coble; second Aaron Allen; passed 2–0–0).
The board also confirmed Dewey Mathis as Road Agent to complete the unexpired term through March 2025. Betsy Coble nominated Mathis and Aaron Allen seconded; the motion passed (vote recorded as 3–0–0 after LaChance joined the board). Mathis was sworn in by Aaron Allen.
In a separate vote, the board appointed Hillary Allen as Trustee of Trust Funds for the remainder of an unexpired term (through March 2025). Betsy Coble nominated Hillary Allen and Aaron Allen seconded; the motion passed 3–0–0. Hillary Allen was sworn in by Lucy LaChance.
All three appointments were procedural votes taken during the public meeting; the official signatures on the meeting minutes record Aaron Allen as chair and show the meeting adjourned at 6:51 p.m.
