Town secretary reports Lebanon Landfill study, recycling education and expected fee increases

Catherine Souza, the town secretary, reported on a Nov. 14 virtual meeting hosted by the City of Lebanon about the Lebanon Landfill.
She told the Select Board that the landfill supports roughly 98,000 people across 14 Upper Valley towns and that Lebanon is initiating a study to increase recycling and lower solid-waste volumes. The city is also planning a resident education program and has projected a 15% annual fee increase to fund expansion and associated costs; further public meetings are expected.
Souza also reported the town received a signed Avitar contract for the 2025 property revaluation and that a snow-removal/road-maintenance contract had been sent to Mike Hutchison of Kimba Enterprises and awaits his reply.
