Aaron Allen, Chair of the Orange Select Board, opened the Nov. 19 meeting and the board recorded the immediate resignation of fellow Select Board member Sandi Pierson.
The board discussed options to fill the vacancy and agreed to seek a candidate to serve either until the March 2025 election or for the balance of the term through March 2027. Catherine Souza, the board secretary, was directed to send a townwide email announcing the vacancy and the application process.
No formal motion to appoint a successor was made at the meeting. The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Dec. 3, 2024, at 6 p.m., when members may set a timeline for applications or appointment.
