SULLIVAN COUNTY — County officials opened sealed electronic bids on June 16, 2026 for the Emergency Watershed Improvement Project SU-25-001 on Fairman Road.
Chief Clerk Hope Verelst read the list of firms that submitted bids: Daren Thompson Excavating; Don E. Bower, Inc.; Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc.; Kinsley Construction Environmental; Mitchell Knorr Contracting; and RJL Excavating LLC. The meeting record includes individual line-item categories such as mobilization/demobilization, stream diversion and dewatering, R-8 riprap, grouted R-8 riprap, removal of gravel deposits, topsoiling/seeding/mulching, chain-link fence, and guide rail.
The minutes report total bid amounts for the group of entrants that range from approximately $172,698.00 to $512,864.00. The record does not assign each total definitively to a single firm in the narrative portion of the minutes; the full bid tabulation appears in the meeting record.
The Chief Clerk also noted that one paper bid from Michels Corporation was delivered to the county but was not opened because the advertisement required submission through the PennBid electronic procurement portal and the paper submission did not follow the advertised process.
No award for the Fairman Road project was made at the June 16 session. The bids were read into the record for transparency and for later evaluation according to the county’s procurement process and any applicable state requirements.
