Mayor Ian Billick and the Crested Butte Town Council on June 1 held a public hearing and voted to renew the liquor license for Crested Butte Grocery LLC d/b/a Clark’s Market, directing staff to apply the contingencies included in the meeting packet.
Town Clerk Lynelle Stanford reviewed the basis for the hearing, which the agenda lists as stemming from alleged violations of the Colorado Liquor and Beer Code on May 5, 2025, and January 16, 2026. Tom Downey, attorney for Clark’s Market, participated via Zoom and presented on the license renewal request. There were no comments from members of the public during the hearing.
Council Member John O'Neal moved and Council Member Kate Guibert seconded a motion directing staff to approve the renewal subject to the contingencies in staff materials. The council took a roll-call vote with all members recorded as voting “Yes.” The motion passed unanimously.
The renewal is subject to the conditions enumerated in the staff packet (not reproduced here). The council did not record additional public testimony at the meeting. The council meeting minutes list the hearing, the presentation by the market’s attorney, and the unanimous vote; the clerk closed the hearing before the motion was made and voted on.
The council did not specify further enforcement steps in the meeting record beyond the packet contingencies; follow-up will be carried out by town staff as directed.
