Orange Select Board reviews ARPA projects, second-floor concerns and hears Town House restoration update

During the action-item review, the board listed several open projects: disposal of an old safe in the Town Clerk's office (deferred to summer 2024); two projects proposed for ARPA Grafton County funds — a septic project and a bathroom renovation, both awaiting bids; exploring options for a possible cell phone for the Road Agent; review of a Visiting Nurses and Hospice of NH/VT 2024 donation in September; and awaiting Canaan Fire Department guidance on fire regulations affecting the Town House second floor.
The Historical Commission submitted three items for board consideration: second-floor security/lock options, clarification of who owns historical memorabilia housed in the Town House, and the status of the commission's reorganization decision. The board recorded those questions for follow-up.
In committee reports, the Road Agent noted that a grader on Burnt Hill was removed during the week of Aug. 19 by Remacle Construction. Parks & Recreation discussed potential uses of the Town House second floor.
During public comment, Dave Stacy, speaking on behalf of the Town House Restoration group, said the group will repoint the lower-level brickwork and the chimney of the Town House. "I will be repointing the lower-level building brickwork and the chimney," Stacy said.
The board reviewed bills and vouchers and confirmed its next meeting for Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024 at 6 p.m. At 6:24 p.m., Sandi Pierson moved that the board enter nonpublic session pursuant to RSA 91-A:3-c to discuss legal and personnel issues; Betsy Coble seconded and the motion passed 3-0-0. The board exited nonpublic at 6:53 p.m. by motion of Aaron Allen, seconded by Betsy Coble. In public minutes the board stated it had taken an action on the legal issue and an action on the personnel issue; the minutes do not specify the actions' contents.
No formal votes on ARPA projects or contracts were recorded in the public minutes; the items remain in the board's open action list pending bids and further staff work.
