During public comment on July 13, resident Candace Mutanani of 28 Center Drive questioned village fiscal practices and alleged personal use of official vehicles.
Mutanani asked, "Is Depew fiscally responsible?" and pressed why village vehicles are not GPS-tracked. She described seeing "that white truck, which is number 14," repeatedly return to a private address during work hours and said, "That's either theft of service or theft of time." She said neighbors have observed the pattern for years and requested audits or time-stamped, documented complaints to prompt an investigation.
Mayor Kevin Peterson asked Mutanani to submit written documentation and to drop it off at the administrator’s office so staff can pursue it. Village counsel characterized the matter as likely a personnel issue and therefore appropriate for administrative follow-up rather than public adjudication.
The allegation was made in public comment and was not investigated or resolved during the meeting; the board requested formal documentation to allow staff to review and respond.
