Pleasant Prairie board approves sending three police vehicles to auction

The Pleasant Prairie Village Board on Monday approved a motion to send three police vehicles — two marked patrol squads and a 2015 unmarked Chevrolet Impala — to auction and to accept the proceeds into the 2024 Police Public Safety budget.
An agency official representing the Pleasant Prairie Police Department told the board the vehicles were identified in Resolution 24-30 and are being retired because of mileage and age. “The number depends on the mileage and the years. So this year we are seeking to auction off 2 Mark Squads and 1 2015 Chevy Impala unmarked squad,” the official said.
The board voted after a motion was made and seconded; the presiding officer declared the motion carried. The speaker requesting approval said the auction is scheduled for Sept. 14, 2024, and that the department typically replaces vehicles on an annual cycle depending on mileage.
No public comment was offered on the item. The board’s approval authorizes staff to proceed with the auction process, receive auction proceeds and apply those proceeds to the Police Public Safety budget as previously budgeted.
