Plaistow Recreation Commission pushes several capital projects to 2026–2027, moves small AED purchase to 2025

The Plaistow Recreation Commission reviewed and revised its capital reserve priorities at the Feb. 12, 2025 meeting, shifting several projects into later years to spread cost and manage the town’s capital schedule.
Recreation Director Jennifer Gusler presented the proposed timing changes. The commission voted to move the 'additional courts' project to 2027 and to move the dog park project to 2026. The commission deferred the planned ice hockey rink and the community center at the Beede Site, which was described in the meeting as condemned; adult fitness and neighborhood parks projects were also deferred.
The commission listed a $5,000 allocation for a GAGA Ball project in 2026 and noted that Wi‑Fi/Internet access work is completed. It also proposed moving the recreation van purchase to 2027 and moving $2,500 into the 2025 budget for an external AED to purchase one unit now.
Members discussed shifting more items into 2026 and 2027 to balance near-term spending and noted help from the Friends of Rec was expected to assist with some projects. No formal ordinance or town-wide funding mechanism was adopted at the meeting; these were internal capital-reserve scheduling decisions recorded for planning purposes.
