The Tonopah Town Board adopted the Fiscal Year 2026–2027 final budget and approved three administrative plans during a May 27, 2026 meeting at the Tonopah Convention Center. The board voted unanimously on each item, and public comments raised concerns about a band reimbursement and street lighting near Harvey Park.
Vice Chair Joni Eastley moved to adopt the town’s FY2026–2027 final budget; Member Steven Stringer seconded the motion, which carried 4–0. The public hearing on the tentative budget opened at 6:04 p.m. and closed at 6:06 p.m., after a comment from Bethany Jayne about a band used during the Highway Through Hell poker run.
Also on the agenda, the board approved the Tonopah Public Utilities Financial Sustainability Plan (motion by Eastley, second by Member Douglas Baker), the Town of Tonopah Employee Separation Process covering return of town property and revoking IT access (motion by Member Baker, second by Member Stringer), and the Town of Tonopah Cyber Incident Response Plan (motion by Member Baker, second by Member Stringer). Each motion carried 4–0 with no further discussion recorded in the minutes.
During the consent-agenda discussion, the board approved invoices and minutes for Feb. 20 and May 13, 2026, but excluded invoices related to the Music in the Mine event pending further review; Eastley moved and Stringer seconded the consent-agenda approval, which passed 4–0. Department manager Joe Westerlund announced that Harvey Park’s grand reopening is scheduled for July 18 during the Rock and Bottle Show weekend; Eastley said the JBD event was “fantastic,” the Mining Championships came in under budget and the Mining Park float placed second in the parade.
At the second public-comment period, Cindy Kaminski asked the board to address vehicles remaining near Harvey Park and requested additional street lighting; she said Nye County had offered solar lighting about five years earlier. The Town Board adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
