Osage County commissioners on June 30 approved several special-event permits, including a temporary firework tent and two fireworks displays ahead of July 4–5 activities.
Deputy Clerk Haleigh Capoun presented the permits on behalf of Land Development staff in the absence of Tricia Webb. The commission approved a firework tent permit valid from June 20 to July 5, 2026. Commissioners also approved fireworks displays proposed by John Sharp at Lamont Hill Resort for July 5 and at Melvern Lake (coordinated with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks) for July 3. Each item was moved by Commissioner Heather Kuder, seconded by Commissioner Brandon Smith and carried unanimously.
The minutes record approvals but do not include public-safety conditions, insurance requirements, or permitting details beyond dates, applicant name and locations; those requirements are typically handled in permitting files with Land Development or the County Clerk's office.
