S8 said he had located a state form and wanted advice on filing and whether he could also seek town assistance. The chair (S1) advised completing the state elderly-exemption form with Connie and also meeting with the town’s health and welfare officer, Lisa Bichock, who can help complete an application and present the resident’s case to the board for possible abatement or other local assistance. "We can put you in touch with our health and welfare officer, and there's an application that you can... she would present that to the board," S1 said.
Officials noted the resident could pursue both the state exemption and the local assistance process; S1 and S3 encouraged the resident to contact Connie and Lisa for appointments and said the food pantry at the fire station would be available the next day. The board also offered to move to nonpublic session at the resident’s request for confidential discussion about eligibility or personal financial details.
No formal action on an abatement or relief award was taken that night; the chair said the resident should complete the state form and meet with town staff so the board can consider any application.
