Planning board seeks Selectmen action to correct zoning ordinance numbering, sets Master Plan review date
Summary
Richmond’s Planning Board voted to ask the Selectmen to hold a special town meeting to approve clerical numbering corrections and to grant the board authority for future administrative corrections to the zoning ordinance; it also scheduled an April 14 Master Plan review and received Selectmen updates about Route 32 paving and a site plan review request for the St. Benedict’s convent.

The Town of Richmond Planning Board on March 17 agreed to ask the Selectmen to call a Special Town Meeting to consider two articles: one to correct clerical and numbering errors in the town’s Zoning Ordinance books and a second to grant the planning board authority to make future administrative corrections without requiring a town vote.
Board members said the current ordinance books contain numbering errors that prevent formal publication of the ordinance book. Doug Bersaw moved and Greg Butko seconded a motion requesting the Selectmen to hold a special town meeting; the motion carried on a roll call. Chair Doug Smith agreed to draft the request to the Selectmen, and the board said proposed ordinance wording would be reviewed at the next planning board meeting.
The board also scheduled a special meeting on April 14, 2026 to review the Master Plan and orient new members; Lisa Traeger was assigned to forward SurveyMonkey results to the newest members.
In other updates relayed from the Selectmen, Doug Bersaw reported that Route 32 will be paved from Keene to the Massachusetts state line and that the Selectmen have asked the town attorneys, Drumond and Woodson, for an opinion on whether a site plan review is required for the St. Benedict’s Center Convent following a change in its approved footprint. The board additionally agreed to address at its next meeting the regulatory distinction between a housing subdivision and a lot subdivision.
The transcript records motions, assignments and scheduling but does not include the proposed ordinance language or deadlines for the Selectmen to act.
