Lebanon council appoints members to new Finance Advisory Committee

The Lebanon City Council on July 1 selected four regular members and two alternates for a newly created Finance Advisory Committee (FACC). After interviewing six applicants, councilors used paper ballots to identify the top four vote‑getters: Jay Sims (8 votes), Bob Moses (6), Bill Martin (5) and Matt Smith (5). Council then approved Kevin Purcell and Fran Cassell as alternates.
City Manager summarized applicants’ backgrounds to the council, highlighting municipal finance, auditing and nonprofit board experience among the selected candidates. "We are going to have a meeting, a kickoff meeting, in a couple weeks," the manager said, describing early organizational work, meeting cadence and an August meeting to begin committee work ahead of the council’s September review of Q2 financials.
Councilors described the pool of applicants as highly qualified and thanked volunteers for stepping forward. The committee will include three councilor members and four citizen representatives with two alternates; the group’s first charge will be an initial review of the city’s Q2 financials prior to the council’s formal review in September.
