Orange Select Board to seek new plowing bids after contractor withdraws; schedules culvert clean‑out and sander removal

The Orange Select Board on Sept. 17 voted to seek new plowing bids and to carry out several road‑maintenance tasks after the contractor Remacle informed the town it will not provide plowing services as previously planned.
Glenn Miller, present at the meeting and acting in the Road Agent role, told the board that “Remacle is not going to plow for Orange as planned.” The board instructed Miller to work on requests for bids to secure a replacement contractor for 2024.
The board also directed Miller and Chair Aaron Allen to arrange removal of sander equipment from Williams Park; Miller will remove scrap metal stored on the Williams Park property. Members instructed Miller to proceed with a culvert clean‑out this fall and to obtain a cost estimate to pave the Peaslee Road apron after the State of New Hampshire repaved Cardigan Mountain Road but could not meet the town’s request to pave the Peaslee apron.
No formal vote beyond the recorded motions approving minutes and permits was required on the plowing and maintenance tasks; the board recorded these items as actions to be completed and assigned to the Road Agent. The board listed the Remacle plowing confirmation and sander removal as closed or in‑progress action items in the meeting minutes.
