The Pecatonica Area School District presented its Pride of Pecatonica awards during the meeting, honoring students at the high‑school, middle‑school and elementary levels.
At the high‑school presentation, multiple teachers and coaches commended Blake Farrell’s curiosity, kindness and work ethic; one teacher said, “Blake is the epitome of what is meant to be a Pride of Pecatonica recipient,” and cited both academic accomplishment and the student’s willingness to acknowledge and learn from an academic‑integrity mistake.
Middle‑school staff nominated Cason (spelled variously in the record) Farrell, praising his helpfulness, class participation and positive attitude since arriving from the elementary school. Elementary winners included Lillian Hibbert and a January nominee; presenters described strong classroom engagement, creativity and leadership.
Families were invited to stay for the remainder of the board meeting or depart after the presentations. The board took up regular business after recognizing the students.
