Lower Pottsgrove police report increased traffic enforcement, trainings and two new patrol vehicles in service

Police Chief Richard Bell reported department activity for May: 1,699 calls for service, 205 traffic citations, seven DUI arrests and 32 accident investigations. He told the board the department handled 17 assists and that investigative and arrest numbers were included in the monthly totals.
Bell described a May 16 mutual‑aid response to unrest at the King of Prussia Mall, when approximately 100 officers from multiple agencies assisted after crowds grew and individuals began breaking into the mall; two Lower Pottsgrove officers participated in that county‑wide assist. He also said Sergeants, a Lieutenant and the Chief attended an in‑house internal affairs training presented by special counsel and that officers completed a three‑day Standardized Field Sobriety Test training.
The department participated in an Aggressive Driving Campaign, conducted traffic enforcement using a Medical Marijuana grant, and ran a DUI checkpoint that produced an increased number of DUI arrests, Bell said. He also announced the two new police vehicles purchased this year are now in service.
There were no questions from the board. The Police Department will provide routine updates at future meetings.
