Kingsport opens convenience center for resident recycling and small debris

Kingsport residents now have a local convenience center for recycling and small amounts of construction or yard debris at 300 Industry Drive, a city staff member said.
The facility, located between CMEX and the Scott Adams Memorial Skatepark, hosts Sullivan County recycling containers alongside a Kingsport container for limited construction debris and yard waste. "It's just a short drive from most Kingsport residents," the staff member said.
The center accepts cardboard, mixed paper, glass, plastics, aluminum and tin. Visitors are asked to pull into the facility parking area, where "a Kingsport employee will assist you in locating the proper container for the items you brought for recycling," the staff member said.
A debris dumpster on site is available only to Kingsport residents for small loads — no more than a truckload of yard waste or bulk items — and garbage is not permitted. The staff member said visitors must provide proof of residence to use the dumpster.
The convenience center is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The city warned the facility may be closed on certain holidays and that items cannot be dropped off outside operating hours.
