Council renames recreation director role, approves interim hire at janitorial wage

The council approved a personnel resolution to rename the position currently called 'recreation director' to 'recreation program coordinator' and adopted an updated job description. Personnel committee members said the change clarifies the position’s focus on coordinating programs rather than primarily administrative duties.

During discussion a council member explained the rationale: applicants should understand the role centers on program coordination rather than a fully administrative directorship. The resolution language (recorded in the minutes as "Resolution 61 20 25") was moved, seconded and carried by roll call.

The council also considered an amended recreation committee resolution to appoint Gail Ambler as interim recreation director at her current janitorial wage of $14.91 per hour.
