Council orders Inari to show cause while Rolls Royce and Saab deemed compliant

For Inari, the company submitted a written statement saying a January restructuring reduced headcount by about one-third and that it intends to withdraw a 2026 abatement request; Greater Lafayette Commerce staff noted modest increases in capital or employment year-over-year but raised questions about whether Inari will meet the original job-creation schedules in the abatement agreement. "They have not reached their goals," one council member said, urging a hearing. Councilors moved and voted to find Inari apparently not in compliance and directed staff to give notice and schedule a show-cause hearing at the council's August meeting.
Rolls Royce and Saab presented or supplied documentation showing investment and job-creation progress; company representatives explained that some capital expenditures are in commissioning and will move into capital-asset accounting when in service. The council approved Rolls Royce and Saab as complying with their respective abatement commitments by roll-call votes.
Councilors debated compliance standards and emphasized that annual compliance reviews examine year-over-year progress against the original abatement commitments; one councilor argued that modest increases could still qualify as "in compliance" while another urged stronger scrutiny given layoffs and changing business plans.
