The Lake Central School Corporation board used its July 13 meeting to recognize a string of successful spring athletic seasons across programs.
Coach Tovar described the softball team's 31–2 season and a run that captured conference, sectional, regional and the Class 4A state championship. "This year's team finished with an overall record of 31 and 2, capturing the DAC conference championships, sectional championships, regional championships, semi state championship, and the class 4 a state championship," she said, and identified five seniors who will play at the collegiate level.
Baseball staff recounted an extraordinary tournament run that included wins over highly ranked opponents and a championship game at Victory Field, named contributing players and thanked coaches and the community for support. Coach Naveed Nizam highlighted the boys volleyball program’s rapid growth and state appearances since starting four years ago, and track and tennis coaches noted qualifiers, school records and individual honors that point to a strong returning group of underclassmen.
Board members and attendees offered congratulations to athletes, coaches and support staff and acknowledged booster contributions. Directors and administrators said the evening underscored the community’s investment in extracurricular programs.
