Chair Ted Cushing recommended reducing the fee to $5 and asked corporation counsel to draft an ordinance to enable the fee. Billy Fried said he would consider eliminating an annual fee and adopting only a $5 per-launch charge. Katie Bauknecht, Sugar Camp town chair, said the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources would continue stocking the lake without improvements to the launch and asked the committee to consider a non-digital payment option; Mike Kortenhof requested staff investigate a drop-box payment option for users who cannot pay electronically.
County staff noted the County budgeted $10,000 for landing maintenance in 2026 and had spent about $500 so far. Committee members discussed enforcement and future operations but did not take a formal vote to adopt an ordinance; the next steps are for corporation counsel to draft the ordinance and for staff to evaluate a drop-box payment option and enforcement approach.
