He also said the department has conducted 219 calls so far this year and that there were no new vehicle problems to report.
The chief said he is working on year-end reviews and beginning work on fire contracts for 2026. On equipment, Lease said he has been gathering quotes for vehicle replacements and is meeting with vendors so the department can get on manufacturers’ build schedules.
“We’re looking at two vehicles — engine 3 and the brush truck — but builds won’t start until we finish paying for engine 1, which likely won’t be until 2029,” Lease said, noting long lead times for apparatus construction require early vendor engagement.
A board member asked whether a police officer could tag along on the Edgewater training; Lease said he had no objection and noted the crew would meet at the station at 6 p.m.
The meeting record shows the agenda and minutes were approved by voice vote at the start of the session; no public comments were received via the virtual platform.
The board moved on to additional departmental reports and budget planning after Lease’s update.
