Port Edwards public works gets progress update on milling, chip seal, paving and bike-path striping

Public works staff updated the Port Edwards committee on street- and trail-related work during the July 23 meeting.
Staff (S5) said Wood County milled the bunker from Brentwood to Fish Street recently and that crews will do hand-milling around manholes and water shutoffs before paving; a tentative window was the week of Aug. 4 for follow-up work. "They came and they milled that road...We're tentatively on the schedule for the week of August 4," the staff member said.
Staff also reported chip seal work is complete and that crews have been making blacktop patch repairs (Klein Lane) and will finish paving weather permitting later in the week. Yearly road painting is scheduled to begin mid-August.
Committee members raised whether the village should change on-street parking or stripe a formal bike path through the bunker area; staff said changing no-parking rules would require sending ordinance changes through the proper channels and agreed to put striping/ordinance options on the next meeting agenda with pictures and proposed locations.
The committee did not take any final votes on striping or parking changes at the July 23 meeting; staff will return with options and supporting materials for further consideration.
