Lisbon Cemetery Association plans stone repairs and volunteer cleanup for veterans' graves

At its Jan. 27 meeting the Lisbon Cemetery Association discussed several maintenance actions for Grove Hill and Salmon Hole cemeteries, including stone repairs, brush clearing and volunteer cleanup focused on veterans’ graves.
Todd Fisher reported Myles Barnes cut down six large cedar trees at Grove Hill and said he will obtain a cost estimate to remove a large tree near the water tower. Todd suggested asking Claude LaPete to repair headstones in Grove Hill and said he will report the quote when it is available.
Donna Knighton said she will gather volunteers in spring to clean stones in Salmon Hole; the minutes note Salmon Hole includes two War of 1812 veterans and roughly 21–22 Civil War veterans. Todd also said Grove Hill needs more flag holders and asked Donna to research costs. Todd said he received approval from Charlie at the Town Garage to perform clearing of brush and small trees when garage staff are not busy with road work.
The board approved routine vendor and administrative items: Lisa Heathe will pay the annual CemSites fee of $1,325. The association adjourned at 6:30 p.m.; the next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 24, 2025.
