Board holds closed session to evaluate General Registrar; draft review to be finalized by chairman

Pursuant to Section 2.2-3711(A)(1) of the Code of Virginia, the Madison County Electoral Board voted to go into closed session on July 1 to consider employee performance related to the General Registrar.
The General Registrar left the meeting for the closed session. Board members used the State’s Annual General Registrar Performance Review form to evaluate performance and agreed on a draft evaluation. The Chairman will finalize the draft for signature and presentation to the Registrar. After returning to open session, each board member certified that no matters outside the stated closed‑session purpose were discussed.
The minutes do not record the content of the closed session evaluation, consistent with the statutory exemption cited. The board adjourned at 1:07 p.m.
