The Madison County Electoral Board on July 1 authorized the printing of 1,000 ballots for the Aug. 4 primary and approved precinct assignments proposed by the General Registrar.
Chairman Jim Smith convened the meeting at 10:03 a.m.; General Registrar Lauren Eanes distributed an updated calendar of critical dates for the primary and presented the proposed Election Official precinct assignments. The board approved the assignments and noted the list is posted in the Registrar’s office for public inspection.
Board members and the Registrar said they expect turnout for the primary to be very low, and the ballot order and quantities were set with that expectation in mind. The board also received a quarterly update on the Statewide Voter Registration System (SVRS) development from the Department of Elections and briefly discussed proposed county sign‑ordinance revisions that would affect election-related signs.
The board did not record a roll-call vote for the ballot authorization or the precinct approvals in the minutes; the actions are recorded as approved on the record. The Registrar will proceed with printing and final preparations ahead of the Aug. 4 primary. The board adjourned at 1:07 p.m.; its next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
