The Vicksburg Board of Education on June 8 adopted amendments to the 2025–26 budgets and passed the appropriations resolution for the 2026–27 fiscal year after a public hearing on the district’s property-tax millage rate.
Steve Goss, district finance administrator, presented an amended general-fund report, reviewed investment holdings as of May 31 and explained the process and the millage calculation during the annual public hearing. No members of the public spoke during the hearing.
Tina Forsyth moved to amend the 2025–26 budgets and adopt the appropriations resolution for the 2026–27 budgets covering the General Fund, Special Revenue Funds, Building and Site Funds (2022, 2024, 2026) and Debt Service Funds (2014, 2020, 2026). Lucas Hillard seconded the motion, and the board carried it unanimously on a roll-call vote; all members present voted in favor.
The appropriations resolution establishes spending authority for the coming fiscal year and follows the board’s review of revenues, expenditures and fund balances presented by finance staff. The board’s action now allows administrators to implement the district’s budgeted programs and capital projects for 2026–27.
Next steps identified at the meeting included final administrative implementation of the approved budget and ongoing reporting to the board on year-to-date financial activity and investment performance.
