The Comfrey City Council took a number of routine but binding actions at its Sept. 10 meeting, approving bills, contracts, permits and rate changes.
Among the motions approved unanimously were: acceptance of total bills for $104,658.04; approval of the August financial report; certification that the rural service district reduction percentage will remain 0.3 to 1 for 2025; acceptance of the Fire Relief Association's annual SC-24 report with no additional contribution required for 2025; approval of a Farmward LP contract to purchase 9,000 gallons of LP at $1.55 per gallon (with a credit for unused gallons applied to the new contract); approval of a gambling permit for the Comfrey Fire Relief Association for Nov. 23, 2024; and approval of a $10 per-section rate increase for the Fire Department and First Responders for 2025.
The council also set a special meeting for Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. to review the budget, wages and set the preliminary levy. Several items discussed at the Sept. 10 meeting (including the solar grant application and software migration) will require follow-up or additional approvals if/when contracts or grant awards materialize.
Votes were recorded as motions with named movers and seconders and outcome tallies were read into the record during the meeting.
