Consultants outline drainage options; broadband/fiber project expected in 2025

Consultants from Bolton & Menk updated the Comfrey City Council on a drainage feasibility study, reviewing areas of the city and county tile infrastructure that could be contributing to flooding or drainage problems during heavy rain events. Roberta Cronquist and Owen Todd said they have mapped the city drainage system and county tiles and plan to develop the concepts shown on the maps into a finalized recommendation for the council to consider.
Separately, Mayor Richter reported on a broadband/fiber grant project handled by Hanson Communications: project engineering and mapping are complete and the materials have been purchased; Hanson Communications plans to return to a future council meeting in early spring with further updates. The minutes state the project should be completed in 2025.
Council took no final action on the drainage study during the Dec. 10 meeting; the consultants will convert the concepts into a final recommendation for future council consideration.
