With that assurance the committee moved to authorize $1,000 for the rental and approved the expenditure by voice vote.
Members also reviewed the condition of the town’s existing stage — documented rot and failing floor joists — and noted that while donor support has come forward for a new permanent stage and roof, the engineering plans and slab bids may push construction past Old Home Day. The committee directed organizers to proceed with the rental to ensure the event has a workable performance platform and to coordinate logistics so the rented stage will not interfere with slab or site work if the permanent project proceeds.
Next steps: David will circulate the entertainment schedule and delivery timing to the logistics subcommittee; the committee will confirm electrical needs given limited power at the site.
