Madison County reports 194,000 visitor trips, says Hoover Ridge Event Center needs more funding

Gardner highlighted the success of local wineries and short-term rentals and credited recent marketing efforts for increased traffic. Committee members noted benefits to local businesses and recommended continued promotion tied to events and cultural attractions.
Madison County Administrator Jonathon Weakley updated the committee on the Hoover Ridge Event Center, reporting progress on facilities that include a hockey rink, a playground and plans for a splash pad. Weakley said major infrastructure and additional funding remain necessary to complete the site and make it fully operational for larger-scale events.
Committee members discussed fundraising and grant options, and agreed staff should continue to identify funding sources and infrastructure investments required to support the Event Center's full build-out and to leverage tourism growth. No binding funding decisions were made at the June 9 meeting.
