The Comfrey City Council handled routine municipal business on Oct. 14, approving bills, financial reports, a snow removal contract and several administrative items.
Council approved total bills of $146,646.36 (motion by Redman, second by Arnsdorf) and adopted the September financial report (motion by Redman, second by Evers); both motions were recorded as carried unanimously. The council reviewed and approved a one-year snow removal contract with Heiderscheidt Digging at unchanged rates of $130 per hour for trucks and $200 per hour for the backhoe (motion by Redman, second by Arnsdorf, carried unanimously).
Other items approved included waiving the community center rental fee for an upcoming Bridging Brown County training (motion by Arnsdorf, second by Evers), and approval of donating remaining community center tables to the local school after a purchase by Bethel Church in Mt. Lake. The council was advised that fiber internet start dates are pending while contractors await equipment and a Nuvera connection, and that guidelines for the Minnesota Paid Leave Law are under review and will be presented in a future meeting.
The library was notified it will receive an increase of $649 in county aid next year and staff are updating the library director job description; the minutes also note the library will host several October events. The meeting adjourned at 7:16 p.m.
Next steps: staff follow up on fiber build schedule, Paid Leave guidelines presentation, and administration of the snow removal contract and waived rental.
