Port Wing town officials told the board on June 16 that several infrastructure and maintenance items are moving toward procurement and repair.
Board members said the Grand Avenue blacktop project is scheduled to begin at the end of July and noted a new grant and funding cycle is open through Oct. 31. The board also recorded uncertainty about when Highway 13 will be resurfaced in the Port Wing area.
In operations, town crew presented a $13,000 bid to rewire the wastewater plant; the crew noted the need to obtain at least one additional bid before taking action. The same report listed recent maintenance work on an oil pan, graveling, culvert repairs and curve signs, said the tractor is ready for mowing, and identified a logging-related "blowout" on Touve Road.
Separately, the board discussed a proposed update to a driveway ordinance. The minutes note that some existing driveways do not meet current standards and that the town is researching whether a landowner waiver could be used to limit liability for damages to private property from emergency vehicles that cannot gain access. The waiver would require attorney review before board consideration.
No formal votes or contract awards for the paving or wastewater work were recorded in the minutes; the $13,000 wastewater bid was presented for more bids and review.
